Captain’s century saved Pakistan in Second test (Match Summery)

Finally, Indian teams hopes of winning second test against Pakistan got a major setback when Pakistan captain Younis Khan scored unbeaten 107 in 182 balls. Due to a century from their captain and 42 runs in 110 balls by Mohammad Yousuf for the last wicket helped Pakistan in drawing second test. Today, India has some hopes of winning this game when four players of Pakistan got out for only 78 runs. However, 136 runs partnership between captain Younis Khan and Mohammad Yusuf for the fifth wicket washed the hopes of Indian team of winning this game. In bowling Anil Kumble took 2 wickets and Patel and Zaheer took one-one wicket each.

Earlier, India declared its second inning for 184/4 with 56, 28, 37, 46 and 9 runs contributions from W Jaffer, Dinesh Karthik. M S Dhoni, Saurav Ganguly and Rahul Dravid respectively. Only successful bowlers form the Pakistan were Akhtar and Kaneria, who took two wickets each. Main attraction of the match remains Indian first inning where Indian team scored 616/5. Major attraction for the inning was Wasim Jaffer, who made 202 runs in 274 balls with 35 fours. Ganguly also scored his first test hundred (102 runs) against Pakistan and in Eden Gardens. VVS Laxman also scored unbeaten 112 runs. Sachin, Dravid and Dhoni also provided contribution of 82, 50 and 50 runs respectively.

Tanvir and Kaneria took two-two wickets and Butt took one wicket. In reply, Pakistan team got bowled out for 456 but they safely avoided the fallow on. Major attraction of the Pakistan inning remains Misbah-ul-Haq and Kamran Akmal both scored centuries and provided contribution with 161 and 119 runs respectively. Younis Khan, S Butt and M Sami also provided contribution of 43, 42 and 38 runs respectively. In bowling the major attraction remained Harbhajan Singh, who took 5 wickets. Anil Kumble also took 3 wickets.

A new 15 year old Buddha

Indian team for Sri Lanka India 2008 test series and Time table

Finally, Cricket season is again back as Indian team will leave for Sri Lanka for playing three tests and five one day matches.
