Michael Phelps has made two new world records of highest gold medals (14) in Olympic career and highest numbers of gold medals in single Olympic (8) in Beijing Olympics. With 8 gold win in present Beijing Olympics (2008), Michael also broke 36 year old record of Mark Spitz which was made by him in 1972 Munich Olympics. 19) He held title of “World swimmer of Year” in 2003, 2004, 2006, 2007 and title of “American Swimmer of Year” in 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2006, 2007.
20) He holds 30 world record in numbers of swimming events like 400 m individual medley, 4 x 100 m freestyle relay, 200 m freestyle etc.
21) In early age, he was also diagnosed with Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).
22) In 2004, he was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol and severed punishment given to him in this case.
