About Michael Phelps


There are few sports persons across the world that creates history with their extraordinary sports performances. Michael Phelps, an American Swimmer, is also one of them. Michael Phelps has made two new world records of highest gold medals (14) in Olympic career and highest numbers of gold medals in single Olympic (8) in Beijing Olympics. With 8 gold win in present Beijing Olympics (2008), Michael also broke 36 year old record of Mark Spitz which was made by him in 1972 Munich Olympics. By showing this extraordinary performance Michael has proved to world that he is best athlete of this century. In future, we can also hope for more such performances from this great swimmer. 13) At the age of 15 Michael took participation in 2000 Olympics.
14) He holds the record of youngest ever swimmer to make world record.
15) He won total eight medals in 2004 Olympics including six gold medals and two bronze medals.
16) He holds the record of highest total medals in single Olympics.
17) He won the record of highest numbers of Gold medal by any athlete in single Olympics (8 Gold in Beijing Olympics 2008).
18) He also holds the world record of highest numbers of gold medals by any athlete in all Olympic games (14 Gold medals from three Olympic Games).
19) He held title of “World swimmer of Year” in 2003, 2004, 2006, 2007 and title of “American Swimmer of Year” in 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2006, 2007.
20) He holds 30 world record in numbers of swimming events like 400 m individual medley, 4 x 100 m freestyle relay, 200 m freestyle etc.
21) In early age, he was also diagnosed with Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).
22) In 2004, he was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol and severed punishment given to him in this case.
