Thoughts on Independence Day

On 15th August of every year, India celebrates its Independence Day by remembering freedom attained by it on 15th August 1947 from mighty British rule. Today, we all live in a free India because millions of people struggled very hard for making our nation an independent nation and many of them even gave their lives for this struggle. Therefore, it becomes our duty to remember those people on this day.

However, today large numbers of people do not understand the importance of Independence Day because they have born in Independent nation and have very little information of hardship faced by our freedom fighters. With passage of time, more and more people are going away from this day and finding nothing special in celebrating this day, they argue that we are required to look forward and not backward.

Today, we have crossed 61 years as free nation and becoming strong in number of fields. In present world, India is a big force in all spheres of life and it is very difficult for anybody to underestimate us. Our people have presence in almost every part of world and in many countries; they have big say in most of affairs. Already, many reports suggest that India will be next super power of world in coming years.

Therefore, in coming years, India may completely take a different new shape and we see complete change in people’s thinking. Now in future 50-100 years down the line, will people have same feelings for these days or not? This is really a difficult question to answer and we can leave this question for future. Today, it becomes our duty to celebrate this day because whatever we are today, Independence Day has good role to play in it. I will celebrate this day in my life time and hope that this day will celebrated for many years to come down the line.
