Acute Shortage of Electricity and Water

Mostly by seeing impressive figures of growth people start believing that things are very fine in India and everything is only growing here. However, there are certain basic things which are actually going in the reverse direction like availability of electricity and fresh drinking water. Hardly, summer has knocked the doors of north India and people here have started witnessing long electricity cuts and shortage of drinking water.

Every year, our centre government and state government’s claims number of breakthrough in solving these two basic problems, however, next year situation only become even worse than the actual situation last year. At certain places, these situations have already started showing alarming signs with electricity and water not coming for even days. Problem of water is more alarming than the shortage of electricity because of the depleting ground water levels and ground water getting polluted due to industrial waste.

In some parts, ground water is no longer safe for drinking, however, due to non availability of other alternatives people are forced to drink this water only. Demand for water is increasing every year while natural resources which are providing water from many centuries are shrinking on the yearly basis. On certain summer days, people in northern India have to live without both water and electricity.

This is really a worry sign for the growing state like India and can cause big problems in the future if corrective measures are not taken soon to solve these problems. From educated people to conserving ground water, there are many options available with governments and people to decrease this problem considerably and make life of people easier.

What is international Tea (Chai) Day? Have you heard of it?

Today for the first time, I came to know about the existence of International Tea Day. No offence in it and I am sorry for it if I was not aware of any such day. The main reason behind my ignorance was an ordinary approach associated with Tea (our chai) and it is hard to believe that tea (our chai) can go international. We Indian drink tea for no specific reason and it is very hard for many people to think about a life without Tea or morning chai. Tea or popularly chai is very common and it is easily accessible to everyone. It is very common to see small stall owners on the roadside selling chai at every busy corner of India. Though tea was not discovered by us; however, one thing is very clear that we are very much responsible for its popularity around the world.

In India, tea or chai is considered a much cheaper option than Coffee because of the rate difference in them. In India, it is easier to find many people who may have never tasted coffee but it is unlikely to find a person w…
