Bad news for Saawariya Lovers (Movie Review- Saawariya)

So far hyped as Sanjay Bhansali’s greatest work ever, Saawariya, looks failed as per the people’s expectation. Saawariya is going to release tomorrow in India, however it is released two days ahead on 7th Nov overseas. Most of the people who watched the movie on the first day looked to be confused about the movie. Even number of critiques, which have watched this movie cautioned people for not misunderstanding Saawariya movie as “Teenage love story”.

Sanjay Bhansali is always known to give his movies a different touch. Saawariya is a fifth film from Sanjay Leela Bhansali. In past, he has got lot of critical acclaim for his movies like Khamoshi, Black, Devdas and Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam. With Saawariya also Sanjay Leela Bhansali has done number of experiments but this movie looks overshadowed by his previous movies and failed in delivering something new and unique. Let’s take the example of the Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam where Salman Khan failed in getting Aishwarya in the end of movie and in Saawariya also Bhansali has done the same repeat (though, I will not leak the story but end is not as happy as people are expecting).

Though, this movie may also get some critical acclaim and Bhansali has done good use of his imaginations, however chances of general people liking it are very less. Bhansali is a great director and therefore, it is not right to criticise him. However, the truth about this movie is that it is more complex and dull to watch this movie. Rest depends on the individual choice. Acting is other weak point in this movie; however, Ranbir has really shown good performance and we can hope that one more star has entered in to Indian cinema. Salman Khan has only around 10 minutes of role in this movie, a bad news for Salman fans.

Overall, Saawariya is one of the weakest movie ever from Bhansali and fails in delivering as per the expectations from a top class director and hyped created around movie. The good point of this movie is good music, however the number of songs in movie are more than needed. So far, this movie is going to open house full in most of the cinema halls across India with already 70-80% tickets booked for this weekend. Overall this movie is not worth watching in cinema halls; people can wait for DVD release of this movie.

Point- 1 out of 5

  1. One more good thing in the movie apart from music is the sets. Its worth watching the sets and cinematography with those beautiful songs. Ranbir looks promising, as well Sonam. But the bad thing about this movie is the weak story line and its really boringggggggggggggg...

  2. "Hamari film mein end tak sab kuch theek hi ho jaata hai. Happees Ending! Aur agar theek na ho to woh 'The End' nahin! Picture abhi baaki hai mere dost. Picture abhi baaki hai haan." ... but this film ends on a sad note :-(
