Book Review-“Living with the Himalayan Masters”

India holds a great history behind it which is full of many cultures, traditions, religions and wisdom, however, today the major problem with most of the youth of India is that it is forgetting the importance of ancient India cultures. One of the major attractions of our culture is life lived by great mystics and masters in Himalayas. From many centuries, this tradition is very much prevalent in India according to which people go to Himalayas for becoming one with higher conscious.

These great masters and mystics follow the path of renunciation (leaving comforts and pains of world both mentally and physically). We all must have heard number of stories associated with these great masters, however, due to lack of information and knowledge we mostly find it hard to know the real truth. For an ordinary person, it is very difficult to exactly know or understand the life of our saints and masters. Most of the time, these people are believed as mad, psychics, frauds because we do not know or understand the realities associated with them.

This book “Living with the Himalayan Masters” is written by one of great Himalayan Master Swami Rama who also remained Shankaracharya of Karvirpithan during 1949-51. He also travelled most parts of India, Nepal, Tibet and lived in mountain monasteries. During his life, he also got experience to meet number of eminent personalities and unknown sages of Himalaya. In this book, Swami Rama reveals number of secrets like can a people become alive after death, can a person willingly change his body or can a person select time of his death? This book revolves around the real experience of Rama and his path of renunciation.

This book clearly provides a lot of insight on the great history and culture of India and provides an inside look into the lives of Himalayan sages, which is otherwise completely inaccessible for us. Reading this book is also very important because tells us to conquer number of our inner enemies like lust, greed, anger, jealousy etc. This book is published by The Himalayan Institute Press, Pennsylvania and costing Rs 295/ $ 18.95. Overall, this book provides a good resource of good valuable information which learns after deep mediation and renunciation.
