Death is unreal (Srimad Bhagavad Gita)

In the beginning of Mahabharata battle Arjun become confused about his action as warrior which includes killing his own family members and teachers who are now part of enemy force. Therefore, Arjun tell Lord Krishna that he did not want to fight this battle because this battle will force him to kill his own relative whom he love and respect. Arjun tell Lord that he sees a great misery in killing his own relatives, though they may be fighting against him.

Lord Krishna while understanding Arjun’s state of mind gives him discloser of greatest secret available on earth Srimand Bhagavad Gita. In second chapter of Gita, God tells Arjun secret of atman (true self). Lord tells Arjun that true self of every living being is not what we see while considering his body, however, it is unseen powerful force known as atman which is actually responsible for life in everybody.

God tells Arjuna that Atman remain same in all forms and time. Our body is present only in present and it was not present in past simultaneously it will not be present in future, however, our atman true self was present in past and it will be present in future as it is present today inside our body. This atman only changes various bodies to fulfil duty assigned to it by nature.

According to God human misery starts with considering unreal body as real and forgetting about true real self atman. Body of person is subjected to change and death; and no force in this world can change this fact. God tells Arjun that he faces this problem and confusion because he is giving too much attention to body structures present in front of him.

God tells Arjun that by killing his relatives in this battle, he will only help his relative in taking refuge in new bodies as per destiny while their atamans will remain same. In these lines of Gita, God share great secret in front of us which tells that death is unreal if we consider our true self. Our true self (atman) cannot be destroyed and it remains same always.

Mostly, people fear death because they consider their bodies as their true self, however, if we start seeing our true self and believing on this concept then our lots of miseries will automatically die.

To get more inside in this concept, it is advised to read “Srimad Bhagvad Gita”.
