Nuclear deal is one issue which is haunting central government from many months. Main ruling party of the nation congress wants to complete this deal considering it in the favour of nation while some allies of ruling combination like Left parties do not support this deal by terming it against the interests of nation. Even some experts are showing the possibility of early elections due to this issue.
Presently, presidential term of American president George Bush is going to expire in one year, therefore, Bush administration is trying all possible options to press India for signing this deal during the tenure of George Bush because George Bush wants to take the credit of this deal. Congress and some of its allies are also supporting completion of this deal at the earliest, while Left parties are still adamant on not going forward with this deal and they have even threaten withdrawal of support from government if government goes ahead with the deal.
As government need the support of left parties for enjoying majority in parliament, therefore, so far government avoided annoying left parties over this issue. However, presently central government is more optimistic of doing well in election after delivering a popular financial and railway budget, second many exit polls are also showing positive sign for the congress and its allies and negative trends for Left parties.
Therefore, now there are many options that we can see the centre election soon and if it really happens then we can say that nuclear deal was really a big political issue, though most of the general public of India do not have any clear point of this issue or simply they do not understand this issue altogether.
