What is international Tea (Chai) Day? Have you heard of it?

Tea, Chai, International day,

Today for the first time, I came to know about the existence of International Tea Day. No offence in it and I am sorry for it if I was not aware of any such day. The main reason behind my ignorance was an ordinary approach associated with Tea (our chai) and it is hard to believe that tea (our chai) can go international. We Indian drink tea for no specific reason and it is very hard for many people to think about a life without Tea or morning chai. Tea or popularly chai is very common and it is easily accessible to everyone. It is very common to see small stall owners on the roadside selling chai at every busy corner of India. Though tea was not discovered by us; however, one thing is very clear that we are very much responsible for its popularity around the world.

In India, tea or chai is considered a much cheaper option than Coffee because of the rate difference in them. In India, it is easier to find many people who may have never tasted coffee but it is unlikely to find a person who didn't ever tasted the tea. I do think that such a popular thing do deserve a day and celebrating it internationally is a good idea. From 2005 onwards, International Tea Day is celebrated on 15th Dec every year. This day is mainly celebrated in countries where tea is popular like India. Now, I will always remember this day and try to celebrate it with some cups of tea with my friends.
