Do You Know- The US prison industry is one of the most profitable industries in the US?

Yesterday, while watching a show on the national geographic channel, I came to know that the US prison industry is among the top most profitable industries in the US. There are more than 2 million prisoners in US jails, which is the highest number in the world much higher than China, the most populous country of the world. America has only 5% world population and it accounts for the nearly 25% prisoners in the world.

As per the estimates, this industry is likely to grow in the future by making a billions of dollars of profit. Therefore, there are many investors who want to invest in the US prison industry. In just ten years of time, the number of private prisons in US has increased from 5 to 100 which shows the growth in this sector.

These prisons make profits by forcing inmates to work at a fraction of the cost for the industries working in the jail premises. These prisoners make many items from army helmets, number plates, paint brushes, home appliances, speakers, furniture and many more.

The success of any business depends on the availability of cheap labor and prisons are helping industry with cheap labor. Most of the prisoners have no other option but to work for very less wages, if they say no to work, then they are given the hard punishments.

It is shocking to know that one of the most advance and richest country of the world is also one of the highest producers of prisoners in the world. Whereas countries like Sweeden are closing their prisons because of falling numbers of crimes and on the other side, crime rate is sharply increasing in the US, and further some people are making good money on this increase in prisoners in jails.

Some thinkers have written that US prison industry is anti-human and it reminds about the German Nazi concentration camps. A country like US which pretends to be liberal and human friendly needs a look at its social system and why such a huge social crisis exists in that country.

What is Stock Market? Let's Understand it

When I was young, I always used to ask myself that why some people remain so mad about Stock Market and what actually is a Stock Market? Why we suddenly see people making billions of dollars in months or losing billions of dollars in days? Therefore, through this article I am trying to make it simple for others to understand what basically is Stock Market and how it functions. The most basic work of any stock market is to facilitate trading in various company stocks and derivatives.

Stock Market provides an easy option in front of companies to borrow money from people and financial institutions by offering company stocks in return to them.
