From next year, it will become optional for CBSC tenth class students to give 10th board exams or not because board exam system will be replaced with grading system. This is one major step from central government to revolutionise school education in India. Government is giving argument in the favour of this decision that this step will decrease unnecessary education pressure on students.
However, there many voices of parents, students and experts are coming against this decision because they see this decision as threat to competitiveness of Indian children against other country students. They believe that competitiveness of Indian students will decrease if this decision is implemented. Such kinds of systems are already present in many other countries across the world where children are only given grades for school education because these systems believe more on acquiring and understanding education then testing it.
However, in India we live in a very competitive world where people fight hard to become successful and education provides a great opportunity in front of millions of students to grab a promising carrier. Students in India get admissions in next schools or colleges on the basis of their board examination results; therefore, without these board exams it will become difficult to select students for limited seats. Due to this reason, many parents and teachers are worried because they fear that their son or daughter or students may loss seat in a good institution because of wrong grading system.
Second, this fear can also be termed as fear of unknown because people prefer to go on known paths then choosing new ones. At this stage, it is difficult to tell that Government has taken right decision or not but time will tell actual consequences of this step.
