What is Depression? (Reasons and Symptoms of Depression)

Depression is one of most common mood disorder and large numbers of people across the world get affected with it. In depression person enters a low mood state and starts feeling very low. These people mostly avoid taking interest in life and major activities associated with life. Some of common symptoms of depression are sadness, lack of hope, no or very less interest in work, lack of concentration, restlessness and irritable or restless behaviour. In patients suffering from depression, we can find all or some of these symptoms. Acute or long term Depression is bad as it can even lead to suicide by person under depression; therefore, it is very important to get proper treatment for depression. Depression can occur due to numbers of reasons like failure, fear, illness, guilt, hopelessness or may be due to unknown reasons. Depression can cause problems like stomach disorder, fatigue, Insomnia, excessive sleep, pains etc. Mostly, people ignore depression and then find themselves in state of acute depression which further leads to numbers of other disorders. Present life style is also responsible for increasing cases of depression in people because it is encouraging selfish approach and goal oriented life; therefore, when people fail to achieve goals or fail in relationships due to their selfish approach then they generally enter in to a phase of depression. State of depression increases with time; if, we constantly worry about same problem and do not get proper treatment. People can also get help of simple techniques like yoga, meditation and exercise to decrease or avoid problem of depression.
