From today onwards, people in India will get extra security for all their online transactions; because, Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has made mandatory for all banks issuing credit cards in India to provide extra security cover for their customers; who use their credit cards and debit cards for online transactions. To get this cover, all Indian credit card and debit card customers are required to register their credit cards and debit cards on bank websites; and generate a password/secure code for their cards. From tomorrow, all online transactions will ask for this password for authenticating Credit cards and avoid frauds. In India, credit cards are mainly provided by Visa and Mastercard. Both Visa and Mastercard are already providing this service in the form of Verified by Visa and Mastercard Secure Code from last few years. Now, it has become mandatory for all card holders to register with this authentication process.
